The Company: Our client is an established company, who grow and harvest Fresh Produce, including fruit, specialising in growing berries. Due to consistent growth and expansion, they are seeking to recruit a new Assistant Manager.

The Job Role Overview:

Reporting into the General Manager, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for the following areas:

  • The day-to-day management of the site, as well as meeting the organisational objectives and performance targets of the Company.
  • Providing strong leadership direction and clear communication to the team. Ensure all H&S procedures are adhered to, with day-today responsibility of operational duties.
  • To continuously strive to improve the business management process and align them with the company objectives.
  • To support the General Manager with employee relation issues as they arise and liaise with Human Resources where necessary.
  • Being accountable for the general appearance of the site, irrigation, maintenance of equipment, heating system, recycling and waste management ensuring that all checks/preventative maintenance/maintenance/MOT/servicing are adhered to.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Management Responsibilities - Site / People / Maintenance

  • To work closely with the General Manager on as aspects of operations and processes
  • To comply with all relevant Health and Safety procedures
  • To manage all staff onsite, ensuring appropriate staffing levels for the workload, setting targets
  • To manage, plan and coordinate the workload efficiently, taking decisive action when necessary
  • Organise despatch including lorry planning
  • Monitor all systems ensuring all are operating properly
  • Organising site maintenance and preventative checks
  • Ensure the company is ready for all audits
  • Ensure the PR2 are up to date in advance
  • Keep all Risk assessments up to date
  • Ensure the training file is up to date
  • Organise the accommodation and keep plan up to date
  • Ad-hoc duties as required or requested by the General Manager

Growing Responsibilities

  • Look after heating and climate
  • Look after irrigation
  • Working with Group Agronomist on feed mixing
  • Organising fertiliser, chemicals and biological stocks and deliveries
  • Crop walking
  • Monitoring and recording moisture reading - EC/PH
  • Spraying / COSHH records

Salary package £30- £35K
