Estate Manager/Rural Surveyor MRICS - (The Ultimate Balancer of Land, People & Opportunity) | Vacancy Reference: 58569 DM

We're on the lookout for an Estate Manager/Rural Surveyor MRICS - part of your week will be spent on a diverse, historic estate rolling farmland, forestry, let farms, residential and commercial property where no two days are the same. The other part of your week you will be working alongside a tight-knit rural team managing a portfolio of estates across the South of England. It's the best of both worlds: hands-on estate leadership plus wider client exposure.

*This role is not eligible for UK Visa Sponsorship - the successful applicant will need to have a pre-existing Right to Work in the UK in order to be offered an employment contract.*

Do you enjoy splitting your time between hands-on estate management and wider rural consultancy?

Can you manage a complex estate while also advising a portfolio of rural clients?

Want the best of both worlds - estate leadership and consultancy variety?

Job Role (in real terms) - A genuine mix of estate leadership + consultancy exposure. The chance to influence both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy. A role with visibility, autonomy, and impact.

Not just managing land - but shaping its future. You'll be the conductor of a complex rural orchestra - balancing land use, people, projects, and profitability.

On the estate

  • Take the lead on day-to-day estate management (with plenty of autonomy)
  • Work closely with on-site teams (farming, forestry, maintenance - everyone who keeps the wheels turning)
  • Spot opportunities to grow income and enhance value (and make them happen)
  • Drive projects forward - from concept to completion
  • Report directly to key stakeholders (the people who really care about the estate's future)

In the office

  • Advise a variety of private and charitable clients across rural portfolios
  • Help shape strategies that balance commercial returns with long-term sustainability
  • Build relationships, win work, and grow your presence in the market
  • Collaborate with a wider team to deliver joined-up, high-quality advice

Location | Wiltshire - travelling to rural clients will be included within your geographical area
Salary Guideline | £dep on exp, plus car allowance, bonus and company benefits

What you'll get stuck into

  • Managing diverse land uses and competing priorities (because rural life is never simple)
  • Overseeing property portfolios, maintenance, and refurbishments
  • Creating and delivering strategic plans, budgets, and cashflows
  • Leading projects without needing hand-holding
  • Playing a key role in business development and client growth
  • Keeping a firm grip on the numbers (P&L, WIP, invoicing - no hiding from it)
  • A genuinely supportive and down-to-earth team

What makes you stand out

  • MRICS qualified (with a few years' experience under your belt)
  • Possibly FAAV (not a deal breaker)
  • Commercially sharp but practically grounded
  • Comfortable leading people, projects, and conversations
  • A natural relationship builder who can talk to anyone from farmers to trustees
  • Calm under pressure, organised in the chaos, and able to juggle competing demands
  • Tech-savvy enough to get things done efficiently
  • Full UK driving licence (you'll be out and about this isn't a desk job)

Team & Environment | You'll be joining a collaborative and experienced rural team, backed by a wider national network.

It's a place where:

  • Good ideas are listened to
  • You're trusted to get on with the job
  • Career paths aren't rigid - growth looks different for everyone
  • You'll be surrounded by people who know their craft and are happy to share it

Benefits

  • A salary that reflects your experience
  • Paid professional memberships + CPD support
  • Private healthcare
  • Employee well being support (including health plans and flu jabs)
  • Flexible/agile working - because life isn't 9-5 anymore
  • 35 days holiday (including bank holidays) + birthday off
  • Extra holiday for long service (loyalty has its perks)
  • Discretionary bonus potential
  • Enhanced pension scheme
  • Access to perks like EV and Cycle to Work schemes
  • A few additional benefits unlocked after probation
