Sales Representative - Job Description (Shropshire / Staffordshire)

The Farmart - Farmers' Trade Magazine

Established in 1983, The Farmart magazine has been an essential agricultural directory for decades.

Delivered monthly by post and available to collect at markets, many agricultural businesses rely on it as an effective way to promote their products.

Dominant throughout Cheshire and half way into all surrounding counties, we are now looking to build our client base more into Shropshire and Staffordshire.

In addition we’re keen to expand our readership in these areas and ensure that all farmers are aware that they can receive The Farmart for FREE!

This is a fast paced role at times and would be ideal for anyone who enjoys networking, and building long term relationships.

An interest in all things marketing as well as a basic understanding of the agricultural world is a distinct advantage.

To start January 2022

Permanent role

Objective:

To source new advertisers for The Farmart magazine and work with existing advertisers to ensure repeat bookings. To primarily focus on the Shropshire/Staffordshire region and assist in increasing the magazine distribution onto farms there.

Job Description:

To take advert bookings from clients who ring in, and to liaise with regular clients about repeating their adverts.

Additionally to work through our extensive client database and make contact with those who could be potential advertisers.

Make phone calls and send emails to those contacts who are interested in obtaining further information about being included in the next magazine.

Promote the benefits of advertising in the magazine and send out the relevant media pack/rate card information.

Attend the occasional show/event to source new advertisers and have client face to face meetings if the situation requires it.

Person Specification:

•Excellent telephone manner & confidence in speaking to new people.

•Prior experience in a sales environment is essential.

•Experience or knowledge of the agricultural industry would be useful but not essential.

•Resilient, positive manner.

•Happy to work from home and has a room at home suitable for phone work.

Practicalities

•A phone will be provided & calls paid for; however, the sales rep will need a computer with internet & good broadband access.

•Hours are slightly flexible to suit the individual, although broadly 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday during the busy 2-3 weeks each month. In the 4th quieter week when the magazine has gone to print, then there is no need to be constantly available. So if you need to feed your calves in a morning, or take your horse out at lunchtime, that’s no problem!

•Rate of pay: Guaranteed salary whilst training for initial 2 months, followed by good commission-based earnings.
