Full-time, 37 hours per week (1.0FTE) including weekend duties and out-of-hours responsibilities
Fixed-term to 31 July 2023 (supporting 2022/2023 academic requirements)
A highly motivated, skilled individual is required to be part of our farm team, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of parts of farm. The farm supports teaching and learning activities, providing the requirements for farm livestock units (cattle, pigs and sheep) to enable the delivery of the educational objectives of relevant courses offered by the institution.
This role will be responsible for the health and welfare of our farm livestock, particularly the sheep and cattle, with some work as required on the pig unit. The role-holder will work closely with the Farm Manager and Pig Unit Manager and will work alongside the Farm Estate Worker. The role will also involve supervising and providing instruction to students, as required. In particular ensuring students are aware of and adhere to Health and Safety guidelines.
The candidate must have the following knowledge/experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role or working in the agricultural industry
- Previous and proven experience and competence working with a variety of livestock
- Conversant with Welfare Codes for cattle, pigs and sheep
- Previous experience of using agricultural and estate equipment
- Valid UK Driving Licence, preferably clean or not exceeding 6 points
