Dairy/Ruminant Sales Specialist and Advisor - North Cumbria
Reporting to: CEO/Sales Manager Aspatria Farmers Ltd
Our business is the fastest growing dairy services business in Cumbria and we look after a wide range of our farmer member’s requirements, from supplying and advising on feeds and agronomy through to supplying and fitting dairy parlours and providing animal health solutions.
Our business has over 900 members, 450 of which are committed dairy farmers who use our business to procure products and advise them on all aspects of their business. Our business growth is very dependent on the investment we are making in our people and particularly our customer facing teams and with impending retirements there is a great opportunity for someone to join our team to take on a customer base of current and potential members.
The role will be mainly farm based with responsibility for a proportion of our member base and is supported by product specialists and an office based customer services team.
We are looking for someone who has developed their career in selling but is now at a stage of looking for a more rewarding role, putting money into farmer’s pockets rather than taking it out!
Aspatria Farmers is a business that is 100% owned by farmers and exists to source the best products for our farmers at the best prices and to back that up with practical advice that helps our members manage their farms better.
We are the major farmer owned business in Cumbria and our role is ever more important as farmers choices are reduced by consolidation in the supply chain.
Our first obligation is to our members so our priority is to recruit individuals who understand all aspects of a farming business and are able to add value to our members businesses and sell themselves as solution provider for the busy farmer.
We are committed to growing the technical and practical knowledge of our team and in addition to on farm training we are supported by our suppliers in offering our sellers the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills across our whole product range.
Our service to our members is provided by a range of specialists who work together to make sure that our members get great advice. As such it is key that the candidate can operate effectively as part of a team and is able to co-ordinate the support of other colleagues to deliver solutions for our members.
There is an increasing need to use diet programmes and costings analysis on farm so the successful candidate will have the capability to help our members better manage the information they need and the technology on the farm that will become the norm on our farms in the future.
The package we offer will be tailored to reflect the experience and calibre of the candidate but will include a company car or an expensed vehicle if so preferred and a contributory pension. For an exceptional candidate we will also consider helping with a relocation package if someone wishes to relocate to Cumbria.
