An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Gardener to manage a beautiful period estate in Kent. The role will involve general estate duties as well as gardening, though candidates must be gardeners with regards to their primary area of specialism, and should hold an academic Horticultural qualification or considerable gardening experience.
A Grade II listed property sits in 12 acres of land with a 4.5 acre established country garden. The Sole Gardener / Estate Worker will be responsible for looking after the lawns, hedges, mixed borders, orchard, vegetable garden and greenhouse. The property also contains a large pond, a stream, chicken coop with 9 chickens, a swimming pool, tennis court and a 6 acre field for horses. Numerous mature trees are located throughout the site; contributing significantly to the established feel of the gardens. The role would suit an experienced, passionate and knowledgeable gardener with a positive outlook and good sense of humour. You must have good plant knowledge and experience with a range of garden machinery. As the Sole Gardener / Estate Worker, the role entails general estate duties as well as gardening so you must be able and willing to undertake typical handyman and estate duties such as painting, cleaning gutters, assisting with cleaning the swimming pool, periodically washing the cars and emptying bins etc. when required.
You should have experience with all of the above and be confident in your ability to manage a diverse garden on your own. You should be physically fit, hold a full UK driving licence, good spoken English, no dependent children (due to limited space in the cottage), and no criminal record. A generous salary is offered with all-expenses paid 2 bedroom cottage on site for the right candidate.
