Their nursery complies with Red Tractor Farm Assurance Standards and their purpose built on site production facility is also compliant to BRC Grade A status. They are a leading producer of Tomatoes, Peppers and Cucumbers.

The Job:
Reporting to the Growing Director the Nursery Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the nursery, ensuring the production of high quality salad crops.

He/she will manage a cross section of foreman and nursery operatives ensuring that crops are grown according to production plans and schedules and within the correct environmental conditions. The successful candidate will help to develop and encourage staff training and record staff holidays and sickness records. Good organisational skills are essential for planning, ordering and assessing the quality of materials used in production and ensuring that production equipment is effectively maintained. He/she should also be computer literate in order to record production and budgetary information for management reporting.

Duties will include:
• Effective management of production progammes
• Manage pest and disease operations
• Recruitment and training for all nursery employees
• Implement safe working policies and adhere to legal standards
• Managing nursery environment and feeding system using relevant Software packages

The Candidate:
We seek an enthusiastic candidate who has a hands-on, can-do attitude as well as able to work as part of a wider management team. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of Hydroponic growing principles and the ability to apply them to different crops in a commercial environment. You will have strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others to effectively achieve goals. You will be able to manage, train and develop staff.

A Horticultural qualification and relevant industry experience is required. a good level of computer literacy and knowledge of IPM progammes will be essential.
