The Company:

A leading horticultural resource centre offering more than 100,000 mature plants, specimen trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials on a 17-acre site situated in the West of England. Offering consultation, design and garden installation services a showcase for outdoor living products and plants, show gardens feature a wide range of trees and shrubs. This includes vertical gardens, water features, pots and accessories, which are all set amongst show gardens. A specular range of mature trees and hedging for creating instant effect.  Clipped topiary, specimen shrubs, character trees for pots, climbers and border plants all give immediate impact at planting.

The Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director to manage stock levels and programming of production to meet Company Sales Targets. To manage production within budgets set by the Company. To add value to the stock held on the nursery within budgets set for improvement through production technique, revaluing through growing process and communicating information to stock control system. To maximise the value of saleable stock on the site through good maintenance of infrastructure and plants on the system. Motivate and lead the production staff in all techniques required to achieve the above, whilst ensuring staff work within a safe environment and utilise good health and safety practices.

 

The Suitable Candidate Will:

Must be suitable for a role that requires hands on working in the outdoors. A thorough knowledge of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. Good organisational and communicational skills. Able to motivate teams during peak and slow production periods. Ability to recognise pests, diseases and good plant knowledge. Prioritise and work to deadlines in a busy environment. A good knowledge of spray techniques and the chemicals used for the control of pests, diseases and weed control. Computer literacy, word processing and spreadsheets. Leadership and management training or experience.
