Experienced Stockperson, Mary Arden’s Farm
We are recruiting a full-time Experienced Stockperson to work at Mary Arden’s Farm, the family home of William Shakespeare, one of the five Shakespeare family homes conserved by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
The farm is run as it would have during Tudor times, with Period Interpreters in costume and a range of traditional and rare breed livestock including; cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, donkeys and assorted poultry, which reflect the type of breeds kept during the Tudor period. Traditional methods of farming are used as much as possible, such as hedge laying, hand milking and shearing as we aim to keep the old skills alive.
This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about traditional farming, who enjoys inter-acting with people and wants to share their knowledge with our visitors in an engaging and informative way. A friendly, approachable person, you will be happy to work unsupervised, independently and also as a member of a team.
The post holder will hold a recognised agricultural qualification, act as a key holder, and be required to work over seven days including some bank holidays on a rota basis with colleagues. There will also be a requirement to attend livestock out of hours as required.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 14th July 2019, and interviews will take place on Tuesday 23rd July 2019.
