Operations Director


Reporting to: Managing Director

Agricultural and Farming Jobs have been exclusively retained by our client to source a fantastic and highly successful Operations Director to join their team. 

The Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, the Operations Manager will be responsible for providing inspired leadership for operations to include the laboratories, quality, transport and the national field team. This involves making strategic decisions along with implementation of operations and company policies and procedures. As an ideal candidate, you’ll have a sharp business mind and proven success managing multiple departments towards maximum productivity. You will understand the basic principles in human resources, finance, IT and marketing to support your strategic goals. Additionally, you’ll display a proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust, motivation, diversity, and inclusion within your team. Your ultimate responsibility is to increase the operational efficiency and robustness within the company and promoting a company culture encouraging positive morale and performance. 

This exciting new role will involve the monitoring and analysing of the current service provision to its customers to ensure it is effective and futuristic. The role holder will be responsible for working out a strategy for improvement if necessary, in relevant areas.

Essential Key Skills:

5 years + Operational experience in similar role at similar level.

Manage and motivate teams of people through KPI’s.

Refined ability to delegate responsibilities and provide leadership and training to key personnel.

Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Possession of key competencies, including conflict management, business negotiation, organisation and decision-making.

Ability to network and communicate.

A positive and can-do attitude.

Data orientated, able to analyse statistics and budget development. 

Highly IT literate.

Understanding the basics of employment law.

Key Responsibilities:

To oversee the operational departments of the whole business.

Maintain constant communication with management and teams to ensure proper operations of the business.

Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including setup and implementation of career development plans for all direct reports and problem resolution.

Actively pursue strategic and operational objectives.

Manage timely data collection to update operations metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service.

Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions.

Plan and review compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.

Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends.

Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

Responsible for all department managers and supervisors, with review/approval responsibility for all operations employees.

Review and approve all operational invoices.

Communicate customer issues with operations team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.
