Senior Laboratory Technician - Hillington

As part of the NMR Group of Companies, we require a Full Time Senior Laboratory Technician located at the Hillington Laboratory, Glasgow.

The Role:

The Senior Laboratory Technician will provide guidance, instruction, training to the Laboratory Technicians and support to the Laboratory Team Leader.  They will have the purpose of managing the testing processes involved in registering and analysing samples and authorising results in accordance to customers agreed service levels.  They will assist with the validation of new tests and equipment whilst collaborating with the Quality Department and following SOPs. This role is a Wednesday to Sunday shift pattern.

Essential Key Skills:

·         To have experience within a Laboratory either in science or a related industry

·         To have strong and demonstrable time management skills

·         To be able to direct a team to achieve a goal

·         To have excellent organisational skills

·         To be a strong communicator - to be able to build relationships with all stakeholders within the laboratory function

·         To support employee training and development experiences

Key Responsibilities:

•         To manage the workflow through the various Laboratory departments to ensure resources are used as efficiently as possible

•         To ensure samples are registered, tested and results entered in accordance with SOP’s and working practices 

•         To train all laboratory staff in new laboratory methods and amendments to existing ones

•         To assist the Quality Unit and maintain training records for all Laboratory Technicians

•         To assist the laboratory’s aim for UKAS accreditation according to the timescale set by Laboratory Management

•         To provide assistance with all customer communications associated with the laboratory

•         To ensure that available equipment operates to maximum efficiency

•         To identify areas for process improvements and communicate effectively with Management

•         To oversee proficiency testing in the laboratory

•         To undertake any other tasks as reasonably requested by Management

What we can offer you:

Starting salary circa £22,000
