It’s quite obvious that job adverts will receive more clicks, hits and job applications, the more exposure they receive.
Therefore when advertising your job vacancy it’s important to do everything in your power to make sure your job advert not only goes out to the right audience (if the vacancy is niche to a specific sector) but is also regularly being advertised across social media pages, refreshed on job boards so that they don’t become old content on the website when new job vacancies are being advertised and of course, return top in candidate specific key word job searches – resulting in increased exposure, a higher click rate and overall more job applications.
Here are just a few simple steps to consider when advertising your job vacancies – to help increase the awareness and exposure of your jobs:
1. Opt for a job board that utilises social media
Everybody is aware that social media has been around for quite some time, and most people now have personal and/or professional accounts across a range of social media sites – such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook & Google+ - it’s quite rare for individuals not to have an account in one or all of the above these days – therefore what better way to advertise your job vacancies? Most social media sites are free to use, free to advertise on and free for others users to share and re-post. Therefore try and opt for an online job board that utilise an array of social media pages to advertise their job vacancies on regularly – and you will find that the job boards who do use social media platforms to boost the awareness of their current job vacancies, will also target, connect and link with relevant individuals throughout the industry – helping to target the right calibre of candidates for your job vacancies.
2. Use as many suitable keywords as possible
When writing the job advert wording for the job vacancy you are attempting to fill – try and stick with relevant keywords that are suitable for the job position. Try not to use complex wording and think outside the box when describing your company’s unique selling points. Most job seekers who perform key word job searches on online job boards will search for job roles and duties that they are most familiar with such as: agricultural sales, farm work or stable hand. These searches usually return all of the job adverts that contain those key words within the job title or the job advert wording. Therefore when preparing the job advert – consider the types of keywords that are relevant to the job role that you would like to fill – to encourage your job advert to return in as many candidate keyword job searches as possible.
3. Cliché – but you get what you pay for…
When opting for an online job board to advertise your job vacancies – always opt for the premium/featured advertising option. Most online job boards do offer either a standard job advert or a featured job advert/premium job advert which is usually slightly more expensive – but they do return much better results. Usually premium jobs are refreshed across the job board more regularly, they are usually featured on various spaces on the home page and other pages on the job board increasing the advert exposure to all website visitors, and are usually weighted higher and appear top in candidate specific job searches – above any of the standard job adverts that also return from candidate job searches.
