As many as 30,000 people enjoyed a day out at a sun-baked Driffield Showground for the 140th Driffield Show, organisers estimated.
Ice creams and wide-brimmed sun hats were in vogue as visitors packed out avenues selling crafts, country wear and locally produced food, while those showing pulled covers over sheep pens to give their animals respite from the scorching heat.
Once again, the livestock categories proved popular and the judges took their time to pick the winners as waiting trophies glinted in the sun.
It was a touching victory for veteran pedigree and commercial cattle breeder Willie Seels, of Home Farm in Burghwallis near Doncaster, who took the Champion Beef crown and dedicated the victory, with a British Blonde born and bred on his farm, to his late daughter, Becci.
