Agricultural Farm Engineer

Location of the Job:

Shropshire - site based.

Salary & Benefits Package:

  • Basic salary of circa £42,000 per year depending on experience.

  • Plus overtime.

  • Company pension scheme.

Additional Information:

  • This is a permanent full-time position.

  • 42 hours per week.

A specialist grower and supplier of vegetables/salads.

The Job Role Details:

Working with the team as the Farm Agricultural Engineer you will report directly to the Workshop Manager and will primarily be responsible for servicing and completing maintenance of all farm machinery efficiently and to a high specification.

You will be working closely with the workshop team to provide an excellent service to the farming processes and support the team.

Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:

  • Agricultural Vehicle and Plant Servicing.

  • Carry out routine servicing of all vehicles.

  • Replace essential fluids and lubricants.

  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and completed on time and up to date.

  • Complete end of season overhaul and repairs on a wide range of agricultural machinery.

  • Routine Maintenance - ensure all machines and vehicles are in good working condition.

  • Transfer equipment to alternative vehicles as necessary.

  • Replacing parts and assist in building new machines, within the workshop environment.

  • Fault Diagnosis - diagnose faults on machines using hydraulic or pneumatic systems and low voltage electronics.

  • Ensure faults and repairs are carried out effectively and in a timely fashion.

  • Field Based Repairs - Carry out field-based maintenance and repairs as and when required.

  • Deal with emergency breakdown repairs.

  • Ensure that any work carried out under the instruction and guidance of the Workshop Manager is done so efficiently and to a good standard.

  • Support Workshop colleagues with projects and developments on the workshop environment and in the field.

  • Health and Safety - It is essential, due to the type of product produced and the equipment used, that Farm Engineers are consciously aware of good working practices and principles are adhered to regarding internal and external customers.

  • Company training is provided.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have / be…

  • Experience and knowledge of agricultural machine maintenance.

  • Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications (Level 3).

  • Experienced with Pneumatics and Hydraulics.

  • Electronics and Welding (TIG/MIG) Skills.

  • Strong ability for diagnostics and repairs .

  • Able to prioritise and manage own workload effectively.

  • Enthusiastic, methodical, and assertive.

  • Computer Literate.

  • Flexible working principles (Working hours, Environment and Conditions)

  • Excellent Communication Skills

  • Strong Health & Safety awareness.
