Area Sales Manager – London

Location of the Job: London.

The Company: Our client is a specialist provider of heavy machinery for the Waste Recycling & Material Processing Industries.

The Industry: Heavy Machinery, Machinery Parts, Waste Recycling, Material Processing, Construction Waste, Demolition Waste, Commercial Waste, Industrial Waste, Household Waste, Wood Waste, Green Waste, Organic Waste, Aggregate Screening, Washing.

The Job Role Details:

  • Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for delivering sales targets and objectives in your sales territory.

  • You will be selling new and used equipment sales and equipment hire.

  • You will also be expected to promote other products and services, including parts and maintenance repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Selling & hiring out heavy plant machinery - shredders, screeners, mobile picket stations, water baths, washing systems.

  • Supplying businesses, waste management companies, private waste companies, councils and more.

  • Establishing and maintaining a customer base for products and services.

  • Educating customers on our company products, services, warranties, and technical support.

  • Taking ownership of customers from enquiry through to aftersales.

  • Introducing customers to other departments for parts, service support and maintenance.

  • Providing accurate information to customers regarding product specifications, applications, after sales services, price, availability and terms and conditions.

  • Co-ordinating sales with other departments to meet customers’ needs.

  • Understanding and managing your sales area based on the business plan for the year.

  • Visiting existing customers on a regular basis.

  • Actively seeking new customers (including cold-calling where appropriate)

  • Establishing and updating sales forecast trackers for monthly sales meetings and presents strategies to achieve.

  • Identifying potential new customers, applications or markets and conveys information.

  • Communicating professionally, clear and accurately with customers, suppliers and your team members.

  • Attending trade shows, events, dinners and functions to represent the company, both in and out of core working hours.

  • Training for self-development during the year.

  • Managing your own time, travel and expenses effectively.

  • Adhering to the Company’s health and safety handbook.

  • Acting in accordance with the Company Values at all times.

  • Travelling for work as and when required.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have / be:

  • Must have at least 4 years of experience selling heavy machinery or at least 4 years of experience selling a product into the waste machinery sector.

  • Proven sales success in a similar field-based role.

  • Happy to travel in this field based role.

  • Hold a full UK driving licence.

  • Be living within or as local to this sales territory as possible.

  • Able to manage your own diary, and work using your own initiative.

Additional Information:

  • This is a permanent, full-time position.

  • This is a performance-based role, with a base salary and commission structure based on agreed equipment sales performance.

  • This is a field-based role, split between on the road travelling and home-based working, 4 out of 5 days travelling on the field.

Salary Package: A basic salary of £40,000 – £50,000 per year depending on experience.
