Bradon Soft Fruit Farm is a family run business that has been operating for 6 years. We are a leading supplier of soft fruit to a number of UK retailers, making us a Company of choice for your strawberries!

We have an exciting opportunity to join our successful and hardworking Packhouse Division here at Bradon Soft Fruit Farm in the role of Assistant Packhouse Manager. We are looking for a passionate, proactive and hands-on Assistant Manager to motivate and lead a busy fresh produce packhouse site.

What the role of Assistant Packhouse Manager for us will involve:

•Motivate, train and develop the team to ensure they got the knowledge, skills and attitude to achieve company performance standards and ensuring that the individual’s potential capabilities are realised

•Guide and lead the production team in the delivery of quality standards across all production lines making decisions where necessary in order to achieve customer service levels and standards

•Support and assist Line Leaders with machine set-ups and changeovers reducing our downtime

•Oversee the daily planning of production requirements, ensuring orders are completed in full, on time and at optimum efficiency

•Assist with job processing and control, ensuring correct fruit usage, packaging, mass balance and other specified job related requirements

•Coordinating, analysing and preparing performance data imputed by the team and assisting with the process to optimise the packhouse Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

•Ensure all personnel and processes are managed positively and within the requirements of H&S legislation at all times

•Ensure the packhouse maintains GMP standards

•Responsible for the production planning and performance in absence of Packhouse manager

The ideal candidate:

•The successful applicant will not only be a natural people manager and a confident leader, but a great communicator with the desire to drive and develop the packing teams, line leaders and quality controllers

•The ideal candidate will need to have previous experience working in a packhouse supervisory role within soft fruit. This will be a challenging position; drawing on a range of skills therefore you will need to have demonstrated effective man-management experience in a fast-moving production environment

•The ideal candidate must also be an innovative thinker, making key decisions with a strategic focus, as well as having excellent financial and commercial awareness

•Good understanding of manufacturing and processing ideally gained within soft fruit production

•Experience with managing, developing and motivating production teams through a continuous improvement process

•Demonstrable knowledge, experience and skills with fresh produce packing and sorting equipment (Heat sealers etc.)

•Problem solving skills and attention to detail

•Knowledge on supply chain solutions and software (Prophet3 / PR3)

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and be prepared to work long hours at key times. Our harvest times are from April-July and October – December peaking though April – May and October – November each year. The role will be variable hours, working 6 days a week Monday to Sunday, so the ideal candidate must be happy to work 48 + hours per week during peak times. This is a permanent position.
