Business Development Manager - EMEA Asia specific
Salary: Circa 70k of and potential 20% bonus

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the identification, pursual and conversion of new business activities for Weatherbys Scientific. After the first 12 months of business, it is expected that new account will be managed by existing sales teams to allow the BDM to focus on more new opportunities. This role will require a good understanding on livestock and animal breeding, a high degree of business acumen and the ability to learn and explain our existing products and services.
Technical Expertise & Principal Tasks
• Identify and recommend business development opportunities
• Thorough industry knowledge to include Breed Society functions
• Knowledge of animal breeding, strategy, and genetics
• Ability to drive business plans and sales strategy to ensure the sales team meet KPI’s
• Achieve/exceed budgeted conversion targets in-line with seasonal trends
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with customers
• Attend industry conferences
• Other duties as directed by the GM
Ongoing Business Development
• Clearly understand the evolving role of genomics within the livestock and animal breeding industries
• Maintain relationships with key evaluation, research, and industry partners
• Provide feedback to relevant business divisions on potential internal developments
• Gain information from the marketplace on new products and improvement opportunities according to trends and innovations in the respective industry segments
Skill Requirements:
• Min 3-year experience in a similar position within a related industry, preferably agriculture
• Proven experience in project management
• An understanding of the challenges of animal breeding
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement business plans
• Experience managing Key accounts
• Sound planning and organisational skills to ensure effective time management
• Availability to travel throughout the assigned region
Desirable Criteria:
• University qualification in Business, Commerce, Animal Science, Agriculture Science will be highly regarded
• Established livestock and or animal breeding connections
• Sales Manager or high-level sales experience
• Experience writing and implementing business strategy
