Job Title: Business Development Manager - Livestock & Aquaculture

Location: Home-Based

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000, £400 per month Car Allowance, 34 Days holiday (Inc BH)

Key Responsibilities

  • To generate leads from the livestock & aquaculture sectors, technology companies, milk processors, producers, distributors, wholesalers and allied industry representatives for services and assets - including project delivery, bespoke trials, demonstrations and research, usage of solution based technologies etc.
  • Convert leads to profitable sales either through the renting of assets/solutions or through bespoke commercial projects
  • Managing and deepening relationships with existing clients profitably through a KAM approach
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of business products and build on existing value propositions
  • Researching business opportunities and viable income streams across the UK and international agri/aquacultural sectors - and then to action on these opportunities
  • Identify and map business strengths and customer needs
  • To support proposal (bid) writing and application process with the Business Development team, Project Managers and Sector Heads Consistently deliver high performance in terms of client service, profitability and compliance
  • To support continuous improvement in activities, both internally and across the stakeholders and asset locations (e.g. Kingshay, Harper Adams University, SRUC, Roslin and/or Otter Ferry Seafish)
  • Working with colleagues and partner organisations to raise the profile of 'solutions' based at our facilities (through showcasing events, webinars, publicity, social media campaigns etc.)
  • To engage with key stakeholders and Sector Heads to understand future research opportunities that could utilise solutions
  • To engage with the other Agri-Tech Innovation Centres and ensure collaboration with commercial partners (ensuring a cohesive sales approach)
  • To link commercial opportunities
  • Proactive management of the opportunity pipeline
  • To act as the relationship manager
  • Participate and attend leading industry conferences promoting enabling role of Innovation in the Precision Ag/Aqua space
  • To agree and communicate with the Director of Business Development on activities

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven ttrack record of achieving sales targets
  • Computer literate
  • Experience of multi-partner and multi-way dealings with a range of stakeholders
  • Highly competent and skilled with Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Proven record of ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and long-standing client and colleague relationships, at all levels
  • Self-starter, who relishes challenges and strives for the best
  • Commercially aware
  • Self-motivated, goal driven individual able to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a clear and logical fashion, with good organisational skills and attention to detail

Package:

  • £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (experience dependant)
  • Enhanced pension
