​Civil Engineer (Design of Agricultural Projects) – UK Based

Location of the Job: UK Nationwide - candidates must be living within or local to the Midlands.

The Company: My client offers a range of services to farmers / dairy farmers including: Farm mapping solutions, design of grazing infrastructure, planning and development of farm yards, consultancy, precision farming and more.

The Industry: Civil Engineering, Farm Developments, Farm Technology, Farm Software, Farming solutions, Agricultural Software, Agricultural Technology.

The Job Role details: Due to the continued growth and demand for its services, my client is seeking a Civil Engineer with Agricultural experience to service the UK market.

Key Responsibilities:
You will;

  • Use the latest surveying instruments including GPS & Totals Stations to carry out Topographical Surveys on farms.

  • Prepare maps of farms showing the current layouts.

  • Design grazing infrastructure to support efficient systems.

  • Plan new farm buildings on sites or within existing farmyards.

  • Design projects such as cubicle sheds, milking parlours (rotaries, herringbones and robotic systems), slurry storage facilities, silage pits, calf sheds, underpasses etc.

  • Prepare and submit planning applications.

  • Achieve the best design outcomes for your customers.

  • Work with the existing team of Engineers within the company.

  • Achieve sales targets set.

  • Develop new clients and work with our existing clients.

  • Generate marketing material to promote the awareness of the business.

  • Travel across the UK (England, Scotland & Wales) to service your clients.

  • Drive a quad bike to carry out our mapping services.

  • Attend trade shows, exhibitions and events.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:
You will have / be;

  • A strong dairy farming background.

  • A Civil Engineering qualification or similar.

  • Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of dairy farm systems.

  • Able to work using your own initiative and be a sound problem solver.

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Software.

  • Experience in using surveying equipment i.e. Trimble.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Full clean driving licence.

Additional Information: This is a permanent full-time position.

Training: A period of training in Ireland will be required by the successful candidate. The length of training depends on the candidate's experience - but could be in the range of 3 to 6 months.

Salary package: £25,000 - £35,000 basic salary per year, depending on experience.
