Procurement Support
Location: West Midlands

Reporting to: Category Buyer

The Company: Fresh Fruit Suppliers and Importers.

The Industry: Food, Fresh Produce, Supply Chain, Procurement

Purpose of the Job:
To support the effective procurement of your nominated product portfolio (UK). To include;

  • Develop and manage routine daily relationships with Buyers, suppliers and internal teams.

  • Accurately record purchase and stock management information on the ERP and other systems.

  • Actively provide timely supply updates to the buying team.

Role Responsibilities:
Responsibility and accountability for supporting the fruit buying team across Avocado, Mango & Exotics.

Main Duties:

  1. Key point of contact for operations/suppliers (day to day).

  2. Review orders versus programmes and communication of discrepancies.

  3. Weekly KPI preparation.

  4. Accurate entry of purchased crops onto the stock and other associated systems.

  5. Management and control of purchased arrivals including review of QA reports and temp recorders.

  6. Management and control of stock discrepancies.

  7. Communication to suppliers regarding stock arrivals.

  8. Working with the Category Buyers to support the communication of claims.

  9. Develop, agree and implement procurement plans, according to company buying policies.

  10. Responsible for accurate and timely administration including:
    Preparation of weekly business unit profitability and margin projections.
    Identification and management of shortages/over supply.
    Use and maintenance of NAV system.
    Order and arrival of products in a timely well communicated manner.
    Timely completion of supplier claims.
    Timely placing of supplier programmes.

  11. Ensure regular communication with suppliers to review and monitor progress, adjust plans in order to strengthen KPI performance.

  12. Develop a strong working relationship with colleagues in operations, technical and commercial to deliver KPI’s.

  13. Collation of information for supplier scorecard (KPI’s) to:
    To drive and strengthen financial performance.
    Drive continuous improvement (quality and financial).
    Deliver quality and availability improvement action plans with suppliers.
    Include development of contingency suppliers.
    Pro-actively deliver and monitor KPI’s including service level to target 100% availability (when in season).

  14. Identify and deliver end to end supply chain improvements to deliver operational efficiency.

  15. Delivery and management of actions/projects to agreed deadlines. Root cause analysis as appropriate.

  16. Ensuring that the sales team receive clear sourcing updates, to facilitate business development (existing and new customers).

  17. Communicate effectively with colleagues whilst fostering good relationships. Including active participation in daily meetings.

  18. Ensure the key category objectives set by line manager are achieved.

  19. The job role requires a flexible approach to working hours and you will be required to work the hours necessary to complete your duties.

  20. You will be expected to perform such additional activities as your manager may reasonably request or as is necessary for the running of the business unit.
    Development

  21. You may also be responsible for an area or product group, where under the guidance of the Category Buyer you will be the primary contact with suppliers.

  22. This portfolio will change from time to time depending on supply windows and new product developments.

  23. Responsibility for the delivery of targeted margins and volume as described in the annual budget for the product area/group.

  24. Delivery of supplier development plans including completion of supplier visits as appropriate.

Strong influencing and persuading skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages with an aptitude for learning additional packages as required.
Be persistent but approachable. Continually challenge yourself and others. Not accept complacency.
Full driving licence. Be mobile with ability to visit retailer stores/suppliers as required.

The Package: £21K – £25K Basic Salary DOE.
