​Farm Mechanic / Farm Fitter / Agricultural Mechanic / Agricultural Fitter

Location of the Job: Herefordshire, Worcestershire & surrounding areas.

The Company: Our client is a busy farming business.

The Industry: Farming, Workshop, Machinery Maintenance, Mechanic.

The Job Role details:

Due to the busy demand of this farm business they are looking to recruit an experienced Farm Machinery Mechanic / Farm Fitter to maintain the farm vehicle and machinery fleet.

This position would suit a person who is looking for a challenge in a busy and diverse environment, who is a self-starter and able to prioritise and schedule maintenance programmes.

You will have experience in all types of Agricultural & Farm Machinery as the farm has a diverse range of farm machinery as well as a large vehicle fleet.

Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for;

  • The repairs, servicing, breakdowns and maintenance of a wide variety of farm machinery.

  • Liaising with internal and external customers.

  • Managing work priorities.

  • Building good working relationships with all departments of the farm.

  • Having a good knowledge of a large range of farm vehicles and machinery.

  • Fabricating parts or components (as necessary).

  • Ensuring that all work/maintenance is recorded and carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Road testing vehicles and carrying out necessary inspections (MOT preparation).

  • Scheduling maintenance periods for all vehicle and mechanical equipment - maintain appropriate records.

  • Assisting with necessary audits.

  • Complying with HSE requirements/understanding the HSE legislation.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:
You will have;

  • Experience as an Agricultural Mechanic in a recent or previous role.

  • Experience working on older farm machinery and smaller farm machinery.

  • Additional Information:

  • 40-hour basic working week (although you must be able to work flexible to provide additional support during Harvest and other intensive periods)

Salary package:
A basic hourly pay rate of circa £15.50 or above – depending on experience.
