Farm Operations Manager - Job Role Details:
As the Farm Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Farm Manager to oversee all operational aspects of fieldwork, equipment, and estate maintenance. You will take ownership of the day-to-day running of farm operations and staff, ensuring a high standard of health & safety, equipment readiness, and labour efficiency across all activities.
Farm Operations Manager - Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example on health & safety and promote a strong H&S culture throughout the farm
- Manage and supervise a small team of operations staff to deliver efficient field operations
- Oversee the setup, safe use, and maintenance of all farm machinery and equipment
- Plan preventative maintenance schedules and manage workshop resources
- Monitor and control labour, fuel, and input costs within operations
- Support estate maintenance and farm infrastructure improvements
- Provide training to new machinery operators and upskill the existing team
- Assist with crop-related tasks and field operations as required
Farm Operations Manager - Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have/be:
- Experienced in operating and setting up modern tractors and farm machinery (essential)
- Familiar with GPS and precision farming systems
- Mechanically minded with good problem-solving ability
- Proven experience supervising or managing farm staff
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- A flexible, proactive, and can-do attitude
- Attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Committed to continuous learning and development
