Food Technologist – Fresh Produce
Location: Midlands

The Company:
We are proudly partnered with one of the UK's largest suppliers of fresh fruit, vegetables and salad. Due to their ongoing success and continued growth they are now recruiting for a Food Technologist of Fresh Produce in the Midlands.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage supplier profiles.

  • Maintain approved supplier and grower lists.

  • Maintain due diligence across supply base.

  • Learn and understand farming practices/crop husbandry across product range.

  • Overseas auditing and visits against agreed plan recommend and implement corrective actions.

  • Measure the performance of suppliers each month based on intake (supermarket, non-supermarket quality and waste and cost).

  • Co-ordinate all related trial work.

  • Help develop the supply chain so that it is conducive to a lean manufacturing operation.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety law and customer GMP.

  • Represent the business at appropriate forums and meetings.

  • Operate safe systems of work, carry out HACCP and COSHH.

  • Responsible for health and safety of self, team and visitors.

  • Able to analyse understand and solve problems.

  • Judgement and decision making especially under pressure.

Skills:

  • Prioritisation skills.

  • Computer literate.

  • Pesticide awareness internal training, external awareness training, BASIS.

  • Pack house auditing ability. Internal auditing ISO Lead assessor, third party (BRC PIU).

  • Agronomic auditing ability Internal audit, Global Gap, Nurture, F2F.

  • Knowledge of BRC accreditation.

Salary Package:

  • £30K - £35K depending on experience.

  • Plus extra benefits to be discussed.
