Fruit Farm Manager

  • Accommodation can be available - mobile home initially, with a view to move into a rental/purpose-built property near to the farm.

About The Company:

A 60+ acre organic family fruit farm in the West Midlands.

The Job Role Details:

A fantastic opportunity to join an organic family fruit farm in the West Midlands. This is a great chance for you, if you have organic fruit farm experience or vineyard experience, to set up into a Farm Manager position.

Key Responsibilities:
You will…

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the farm.

  • Manage permanent staff and casual workers.

  • Maintain the orchard and vineyard.

  • Harvest, cold storage and packing.

  • Manage packhouse and shipments to customers.

  • Manage apple juice production.

  • Carry out basic machinery maintenance and repairs.

  • Operate farm machinery, including tractor field work, topping and cultivations.

  • Carry out spraying for nutrition, pest and disease control.

  • Mechanical weed control.

  • Irrigation installation and maintenance.

  • General farm maintenance work.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have / be…

  • Experience working on a fruit farm, vineyard, horticultural estate, or top fruit production.

  • Tractor driving experience.

  • Living local to the West Midlands or willing to relocate.

  • Willing to work longer hours as required, during busy seasonal periods.

  • Well organised, identify priorities, produce workplans.

  • Able to supervise and lead a team of staff.

  • Happy to be hands-on and willing to operate tractors and other farm machinery.

  • Trustworthy, ambitious, hard-working and reliable.

  • Organic farming experience - desirable.

  • Spraying qualifications and experience.

  • Forklift qualification and experience.
