Job Title: Commercial Buyer – Horticulture

The Company:

Our client is an established Horticultural grower and stock supplier of a wide range of hedges and various shrub plants. They now are seeking to recruit a knowledgeable Commercial Horticultural Buyer.

The Industry: Horticulture, Nursery, Garden Centre, Hedges, Shrubs, Plants, Agricultural, Agricultural, Buyer, Buying, Growers, Supplies, Stock Control, Commercial Buyer.

The Job Role Details:

As a Commercial Buyer, you will be able to demonstrate your experience directly within horticulture. Able to deliver a strong supply base and the best range of products for the business needs and requirements. Obtaining the best possible prices, through very good negotiation and sourcing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiation and stock control with suppliers.

  • Supplying the best range of products available for the business requirements.

  • Communicating with all departments, throughout the buying stages.

  • Ensuring production teams have what they need to continue to grow and produce quality plants.

  • To lead a small team of Junior Buyers, maintaining best practices are adhered to.

  • Lead, coach and motivate your small team.

  • Drive results and work to strict time scales.

  • To ensure suppliers deliver on specifications of plants/ products promised.

  • Consistently look for ways to improve the business model.

  • Work with internal stockholders to improve forecasts, deliver range changes, solve supplier issues, and improve buying process.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:

Ideal:

  • Experience within a similar role of Commercial Horticultural Buying.

  • To have a Degree or relevant Horticultural Qualification.

  • Strong Horticultural knowledge and experience.

  • Ideally have achieved a CIPS qualification.

  • Experience in buying Hardy Nursery stock and sourcing.

  • You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work with a supply base to deliver the range and quality of products required at the best possible price.

  • Ideally, you will have led a team and managed people in the past.

  • Develop a good working relationship with colleagues and customers.

  • Competent computer skills – Microsoft packages – Word, Excel, Outlook.

 Salary package:

£ 40,000 - £ 60,000 p.a. Experience Dependant.
