​Horticultural Mechanic / Groundcare Mechanic / Workshop Technician / Workshop Engineer / Workshop Mechanic

Location of the Job: Midlands

The Company: Our client specialises in providing high quality equipment for the ground care and tree care sectors. This company is a multi-franchised garden and forestry equipment dealership.

My client is now recruiting for this position as they are going through a fantastic period of growth and as a result now require an additional Fully Qualified Horticultural Machinery / Ground Care Machinery Technician to be based at the workshop in the West Midlands.

The Industry: Horticultural Machinery, Groundcare Machinery, Forestry Machinery, Arboriculture Machinery.

The Job Role details:

You will be responsible for supporting the Service and Repair teams through repairing and servicing groundcare 4-stroke and 2 stroke machinery, looking after the needs of the customers.

You will be reporting directly to the Service Operations Manager as part of a team of around 25 people covering Sales, Service, Parts, Mechanics, Website, Accounts and IT.

Key Responsibilities:
You will;

  • Be the first point of contact for the company's service and repair work.

  • Provide a professional service and deliver a high level of customer service.

  • Carry out servicing and repairs on different types and brands of mowers and 2 stroke machinery.

  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.

  • Accurately complete all paperwork including daily time sheets and job cards.

  • Advise the Service Advisor and Service Operations Manager of any issues the customer needs to be advised of.

  • Maintain a safe, organised, clean and tidy work area ensuring walkways are always clear.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:
You will;

  • Have good knowledge and experience of both 2 and 4 stroke machinery.

  • Be enthusiastic and conscientious.

  • Have experience working on Groundcare machinery.

  • Have good mechanical & electrical engineering knowledge.

  • Be able to meet customer expectations and deliver a quality repair or service.

  • Have good organisational skills.

  • Be a strong and confident communicator.

  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team but also independently.

  • Have basic maths and understanding of desktop/database applications.

  • Possess a clean UK driving licence.

Additional Information:

The showroom/shop/workshop are open from 8.30 - 17.30 Mon to Fri and 9.00 - 17.00 Saturday.

During the winter months Saturday hours are reduced to 9.00 - 13.00. Closed Sundays and Bank Holidays.

A full-time role will work 40hrs per week on a rota basis within the hours stated above.

This will include Saturday working.

Salary Package:

A basic salary of £25,000 per annum depending on experience (40 hour basic working week)
