Packhouse Manager

Location: Kent

The Company: A highly successful soft and stone fruit packhouse.

The Purpose of the Role:

The Packhouse Manager will be responsible for all areas of running the packhouse, which include the efficient operation of the packhouse, ensuring customer specifications are met and creating a successful and productive working environment.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all staff have appropriate training.

  • Planning the production runs of the day and communicating with line leaders.

  • Communicating any problems to growers immediately, before work on the fruit is carried out.

  • Optimising fruit performance, while delivering high quality fruit.

  • Ensuring all orders are completed in a timely manner.

  • Ensuring customer specifications are met.

  • Ensuring line speed targets are met.

  • Providing accurate yield information on grade outs and production costs.

  • Ensuring the logistics involved with delivering fruit to our customers are carried out.

  • On site Health & Safety.

  • Ensuring all packing practices and procedures are compliant with audit standards and successfully complete audits.

  • Monitoring machine and building maintenance.

  • Creating an environment where all staff can achieve their full potential.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills and is highly organised.

  • Must have excellent attention to detail and will take pride in continuing to develop the company's brilliant reputation and drive the business forward.

  • Enjoys working alone and in a team.

  • Previous industry experience in fresh produce, HACCP and BRC is preferred.

  • The role will involve long hours especially in the busier months (July – October) so will require someone who is willing to work long hours.
