Location: North West
Reports to: General Sales Manager and MD
Reporting to Potato Trader: Warehouse Supervisors, Technical Manager, all Drivers
The Company: Fantastic Fresh Produce Wholesaler based in the North West.
The Industry: Purchasing, Sales, Food, Fresh Produce, Agriculture
Purpose of the Job:
To buy Potatoes and other related products from approved supplier base and serve existing customer base.
Increase customer base.
Regulating working day around the company needs.
Role Responsibilities:
Buying Potatoes and other related products to customer specifications.
Sales of Potatoes and other related products.
Increase profitability.
Ability to work on your own initiative.
Building strong and sustainable working relationships with suppliers and customers (including visiting clients throughout the UK – this may include nights away from the local area).
Negotiation of contracts and free buy with suppliers and customers.
Support accounts office/credit control.
Support BRC standard certification and systems.
BUYING POTATOES TO CUSTOMER SPECIFICATIONS
Buying Potatoes from approved suppliers.
Sampling of crop throughout growing and storage.
Communication of quality and yield information to growers/suppliers.
Good commercial acumen, negotiating skills and cost awareness.
Agreeing prices with suppliers.
Good IT skills and attention to detail.
Supporting the administration of purchase ledger.
Supporting the administration for goods received.
SALES OF PRODUCE
The customer base includes Potato Processing, Foodservice, Retail, Wholesale, Pre packers.
To maintain good customer relationships.
To support the administration with customer queries.
Meet the requirements of the customer specifications.
Increase sales.
PROFITABILITY
To communicate with sales team to maximise profit.
Review cost prices for Potatoes and other related products.
SUPPORT OFFICE/CREDIT CONTROL
Sales ledger accounts/advise of any change in customer circumstances.
Work together with credit control to maximise on time payments.
SUPPORT ACCREDITATION SYSTEMS
Maintain and support all aspects of the accreditation.
Purchase of approved suppliers.
Help monitor customer complaints.
Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:
Experience within a buying or sales role, ideally in the fresh produce industry.
Happy to be office-based with occasional travel.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Be computer literate.
A clean driving license.
Salary Package:
£30K – £40K DOE
Excellent package TBC
