Depot Service Manager

Location of the Job: South West; Dorset, Wiltshire, Bristol, Avon.

The Company: Is a highly specialist machinery dealership, supplying customers throughout the south of England.

The Industry: Agricultural Machinery, Farm Machinery, Garden Machinery, Groundcare Machinery, Horticultural Machinery, Construction Machinery.

The Job Role details:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director you will lead the Service Team at this machinery dealership. You will bring excellent customer service skills, proven leadership abilities, engineering experience, knowledge of the Agricultural and Farming sector and a sales minded approach to drive the profitability of this department.

This role requires you to manage and motivate the service department employees in a safe, effective and profitable working environment including workshop, service bays and the office.

You will also be required to provide exceptional customer service support, with a sales minded approach, by upselling services and products whilst maintaining existing customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
You will:

  • Recruit, develop and manage the service staff.

  • Make sure department budgets and objectives are met in line with company budget.

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures for service department employees.

  • Management of customer problem resolution.

  • Purchase, manage and control workshop tools and consumables to meet the requirements of the branch service department.

  • Develop and manage the service department finance budget as agreed and implemented by the Board.

  • Manage the IT management systems including weekly update and maintenance of diagnostic tools.

  • Implement and maintain service schedule planner.

  • Regularly update the customer database.

  • Install planning for manufacturer training, online manufacturer, learning tools and recall procedures.

  • Implement and audit the department’s health and safety policies and risk management strategies.

  • Assist with advance planning online marketing campaigns.

  • Communicate with dealership colleagues, business partners, suppliers, customers and visitors to deliver excellent service support.

  • Work closely with marketing team to ensure comprehensive promotion of the aftersales business.

  • Manage 1 Service Admin support and 5 Engineers.

  • Plan and organise team workload, absence cover and seasonal demands.

  • Work with the Sales Manager to be aware of sales activity and seasonal promotions in accordance with annual budget.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:
You will have / be:

  • Knowledge of the Agricultural / Farming industry.

  • Proven management experience in an aftersales environment.

  • Highly motivated with leadership qualities and target driven.

  • A good communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Prioritising, time management, planning and organisational skills.

  • Able to deliver high levels of customer service.

  • Good IT skills, including Ibcos Gold, Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Good H&S knowledge with experience of working with risk assessments.

  • Able to work well under pressure.

  • A full driver’s licence - essential.

Additional Information: This is a permanent full-time position.

Salary package: A basic salary of £35,000 or more, depending on experience.
