Poultry Systems Engineer – West Midlands / Wales Border

Location of the Job: Shropshire, Herefordshire, Wales, Powys, West Midlands and the surrounding areas.

The Company: Our client is a leading provider of equipment for Poultry / Pig / Mushrooms.

The Industry: Engineering, Field Service, Installation, Commissioning, PLC, Control Systems, Poultry, Farming, Electronics, Electrician, Poultry Houses, Poultry Systems.

The Job Role details: Due to the success of this company - my client is now recruiting for a fully-electrically qualified - Field Service Engineer or Poultry System Engineer to be responsible for the installation and commissioning of poultry houses, ventilation, feed, drinking, lighting and heating equipment on farm.

Key Responsibilities:
You will;

  • Perform commissioning of new poultry houses and upgrades - including setting up computers and networks.

  • Carry out training days - either for individual farms and groups of Area Managers.

  • Provide technical phone support.

  • Liaise with customers – mainly farmers.

  • Develop the computer systems, with the Manufacturer, for the UK Farmers' needs.

  • Provide ventilation advice and smoke testing.

  • Help with the design of the panels for correct function - based upon clients' specification.

  • Attend site visits for technical sales - usually for the upgrade of existing equipment.

  • Electrical install - upgrading equipment.

  • Fault find in electrical or electronics (im60 etc).

  • Commission controls - both computerised and mechanical.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:
You will have / be;

  • A fully qualified electrician with Industrial or Agricultural installation work experience.

  • Experience with control panels / switchboxes and PLC style control computers.

  • Basic IT and network skills.

  • Good mechanical skills.

  • Some experience liaising with Farmer's / the agricultural industry.

  • Used to commissioning controls - both computerised and mechanical.

  • Living within the West Midlands / Wales area – and happy to travel in this field-based role.

Additional Information:

  • Work will require travel to Farms.

  • Work is not always clean and could be new build (site work so Health & Safety is important)

  • Work will require working at heights (ladder / scissor lift).

  • This is a permanent full time role, offering long-term career stability: Basic working week is 39 hours. (Overtime rates available)

Salary package:
A basic hourly pay rate in the range of; £18.00 - £21.00 per hour depending on experience.

Plus Benefits: Company vehicle, phone, laptop, overtime is paid at time and a half, company pension scheme.
