Trainee and Senior Vineyard Workers

Location of the Job:

Kent Vineyards.

Salary & Benefits Package:

  • An annual pay range of £19,000 - £23,000 depending on the role and your experience.

Additional Information:

  • Permanent, full-time.

  • Standard working week is 39 hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:00am - 3:30pm.

The Job Role Details:

Fantastic job opportunities available for either Trainee Vineyard Workers - wanting to progress into field work within the agricultural sector, looking after the vineyard, orchards - offering excellent opportunities for ongoing training and development, to grow within the company.

Senior Vineyard Workers - to head up the team of vineyard workers and provide guidance and leadership as a senior member of the vineyard team under the direction of the Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

For the Trainee Vineyard Worker role you will:

Ensure all work is carried out as per Supervisor or Management instruction and be responsible for:

  • Pruning.

  • Management of the vines - leaf trimming, shoot thinning, yield manipulation.

  • Spray applications - record keeping.

  • Trellis maintenance - including vineyard establishment as required.

  • Ground management - weed control, mowing and soil cultivation.

  • Machinery maintenance.

  • Site maintenance.

  • Assist with record keeping when requested.

For the Senior Vineyard Worker role, you will assist and direct;

  • Supervision of agency and staff maintaining a professional and approachable attitude.

  • Provide cover for the Manager during periods of holiday, sickness, and act in his absence.

  • Provide updates to the Manager/Viticulturist over this period.

  • Ensure staff are following correct procedures and offer guidance/training when lacking.

  • Report to the Manager any issues that may affect the smooth running of the vineyard.

  • Constantly strive for improvements in quality, efficiency, cost and professionalism.

  • Provide ongoing training and assistance to all team members across various vineyard sites as requested.

Essential Requirements:

Trainee role:

  • Hold a UK drivers licence.

  • Have your own vehicle to get to and from work.

Senior role:

  • Tractor operating experience in a similar role.

  • Have your spraying qualifications: PA1, PA2, and PA3.
