Agricultural Engineer - Excellent Benefits Package

Location of the Job:

Maryland Farm, Ditcheat, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 6PR.

Salary and Benefits Package:

  • Annual Salary £30,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience.

  • Overtime available.

  • Holiday entitlement - 30 days per annum (including Public & Bank Holidays in England & Wales), rising to 31 days after 10 years continuous service on your 10th anniversary.

  • Pension - 5% Employee/5% Employer contribution.

  • Life Assurance - 2 x annual salary (after completion of 3 months service).

  • Bike to Work Scheme - Capped.

Additional information:

  • Contractual Hours - 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

We have a rare opportunity to join the Ditcheat Dairy Farming & Farm Engineering Department.

The Job Role Details:

As an Agricultural Engineer you will support the agricultural mechanical department in ensuring that equipment is fit for purpose and solutions are sought to keep the farm operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:
You will…

  • Service tractors, forage harvesters and other machinery as part of a team.

  • Provide maintenance cover at weekends (1 in 4) for the dairy units/machinery.

  • Undertake in house projects that provide solutions to practical problems.

  • Weekend working during very busy periods i.e., when silage making.

  • Carry out any other work or task determined to be within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business.

  • Work within all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Food Safety, Authenticity, Legality and Quality Standards.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have / be…

  • Welding qualification.

  • Time-served or Relevant Qualification within servicing/agricultural mechanics.

  • Previous work experience in a similar environment.

  • Knowledge of milking parlour servicing (desirable - training can be provided).

  • Ability to deal with people on all levels.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Able to work unsupervised.

  • Good sense of humour.

  • Open, honest, and calm - even under pressure.

  • Contribute to the team goals and effectively communicate in a timely manner.
