Assistant Dairy Herdsmanager

Location of the Job:

Scottish Borders.

About The Company:

An Assistant Dairy Herd Manager is now required to assist the Herd Manager in milking and caring of 1,200 dairy cows using a 60-point GEA rotary parlour. Managing a team of Milkers.

Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:

  • Supervising milking team in herd manager absence.

  • Foot trimming.

  • AI - Artificial Insemination.

  • Looking after the youngstock.

  • Following protocols.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have / be…

  • Dairy farm work experience.

  • AI experience.

  • Foot trimming experience.

  • Milking experience.

  • In a position to relocate and live at the farm.

  • Efficient in overseeing, managing and supervising other members of staff alongside the Herd Manager and in their absence.

  • Able to work well as part of a team.

  • Trustworthy to undertake tasks efficiently on their own and a part of the team leadership.

  • Very good at communication between different staff members and management.
