Role: Assistant Manager
Location: North Essex
Business: A Co-operative Farming Business producing mainly Sweetcorn, Squash and Pumpkins. We strive to produce highest quality vegetables for retail and wholesale markets.
Job Description:
Day to day farming operations will include some tractor and forklift driving, and also;
Crop walking with an agronomist to ensure the crops are grown to the highest possible standard.
Oversight of Irrigation and crop husbandry.
Procurement of inputs.
Management of a small team ensuring that they are motivated and efficient.
Assisting the Farm Manager with planting, robotic weeding, harvesting and packing a wide range of seasonal crops.
Between November and March the role will include general farm work, maintenance and planning for the following season.
The ideal candidate will be someone with experience in managing seasonal labour in the horticultural industry.
Training will be provided where necessary, and a desire to learn about different crops is essential.
This is a diverse role that will vary throughout the season and include the oversight of machinery maintenance, the management of labour and the production of the crop through to packing and dispatch.

A competitive salary will be depend on the experience and skills of the candidate in the range of £25k to £35k. Temporary accommodation may be available to assist with relocation.
