​Job Title: Farm Manager, Beef Farm Manager, Yorkshire

Location of the Job: Yorkshire, North England, UK

The Company:
My exclusive client are an integrated beef farming company, who take dairy x beef calves from 3 weeks to finished product, working directly with UK retailers. They have their own calf rearing units and pride themselves on producing a high quality, consistent product for consumers. This farm has all the latest technology to work with.

The Industry: Beef industry, specifically calf rearing on this farm. Farming, UK Farming.

The Job Role details:
Managing a large, purpose built calf rearing unit, taking calves from 3-19 weeks of age. Heavily invested in modern technology including milk machines, automatic weighers and feeders.
Trial work carried out for various companies on the farm, as well as the internal facility for driving efficiencies across the other unit.
Team of 4 on the farm, plus support from other areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
-Day to day management and organisation of farm staff.
-Compliance with farm assurance, customer protocols, CTS and data inputting.
-Health and welfare of all calves on the unit.
-Planning of all weekly routines; centred on health and performance.
-Some hands on practical farm work.
-Part of the management team of the company, to shape future protocols and business decisions.
-Liaison with external advisors (e.g. Vets, nutritionists etc.)

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:

-Experience in successfully managing a team is a MUST to ensure they are motivated, hard-working and enjoy their work.
-Experience with calves, and/ or dairy/ beef farming.
-Can-do attitude, and cheerful disposition.
-Excellent planning skills.
-Degree (or similar) in Agriculture.
-5 years practical experience.
-Happy to “farm” as well as manage team/ office work.
-Happy to take responsibility/ accountability for all aspects of the farm (neither business owner lives on/ near the farm).
-Someone who is keen to develop, train and nurture their team.

Additional info:

New 3 bedroom house available, fully expensed by company.

Current rota excludes weekend work for manager, except for holiday cover occasionally.

Salary package:

c. £35k Basic Salary + Benefits
