​Farm Manager – Calf Rearing Beef Farm

Location of the Job: Somerset.

The Company: A new and exciting opportunity has arisen working for an exclusive client of ours. We are looking to support our client in recruiting ASAP for an experienced calf rearing Farm Manager for a beef farm in the South West, UK.

The Industry: Farming, Dairy, Calf, Cattle, Cows, Management.

The Job Role Details:

We are eagerly looking for an experienced Farm Manager to oversee the daily planning, organisation, supervision and administration of all activities on the calf rearing unit.

You must have the same enthusiasm, reliability and self-starting attitude that makes this a market leading company.

Responsibilities:

  • Excellent forward planning and scheduling ability.

  • Maximising the Daily Live Weight Gain (DLWG) of all calves in the rearing unit.

  • Organising feeding, bedding and scheduled vaccinations/husbandry procedures for all calves.

  • Ensuring calves are reared to the highest standards and exit the rearing units on time.

  • Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records.

  • Recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers.

  • Making sure that all scheduled work is carried out in an organised and efficient manner.

  • Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards.

  • Keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases.

  • Ensuring that the rearing unit is profitable and meets projected financial targets.

  • Organising maintenance/repair of property, equipment and machinery.

Requirements:

  • MUST have Calf rearing experience!

  • Successful previous experience as a Farm Manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets through the efforts of your team.

  • Rearing Unit/Dairy industry expertise is a must.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organisation.

  • Process and target driven.

  • Proven ability to implement and drive procedures and tasks from plan to close.

  • Strong commercial/business sense.

  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.

  • Team player – working in co-operation with colleagues.

  • Excellent written and oral skills.

  • IT Skills – Microsoft / Outlook etc.

  • Full Clean driver license.

Package:

c£40K To be negotiated Basic Salary plus local accommodation available.
