Job Title: Trainee Farm Trader

Location of the Job: Office Based (ideally) - Cambridgeshire, UK

The Company:
My client is a producer of commercial animal feed and bedding within the UK with a strong emphasis on buying and selling of straw.

The Industry: Agriculture, Animal Feed, Animal Bedding, Agricultural Commodities, Agricultural Trading.

The Job Role details:
To improve the sourcing of straw by increasing the companies’ active supplier base – this may involve a small amount of straw trading.
To increase sales of NIS (a ‘straight’ feed ingredient) to the ruminant industry (Specifically Beef and Dairy).
To develop sales of niche compound feeds (specifically; calf, sheep, goat & venison).
Purchasing packaging & ingredients.
To understand and assist with the sales of animal bedding where required.

Key Role Responsibilities:
To increase the overall commercial performance of the company.
To establish new supplier/ customer acquisition with new business development.
Establish a beneficial trading relationship with new accounts.
Manage trading accounts to maintain a long-term mutually beneficial relationship.
Agree and achieve trading objectives.
Report performance and be held accountable against targets weekly & monthly.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:

Essential;

Need to be able to successfully develop trade with a wide range of agricultural businesses – previous Agricultural trading / selling / buying experience is essential.
Able to learn the technical benefits of all products and clearly communicate this to customers.
Passionate professional!
Be a fantastic negotiator.
Good IT skills and have the ability to use a CRM system – (ACT CRM experience would be highly advantageous).
Happy to easily fit into a small and successful team.
At least 3 years agricultural experience.
Self-starter, with attention to detail, able to manage a varied and heavy workload.
Actively suggests innovation and takes initiative.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience in selling a commodity or products sold by the tonne. E.g. Grain, Fertiliser, Seeds, Corn, Potatoes, compost etc.
Strong new business development skills.

Desirable;

Experience within the Animal Feed industry.
Experience in buying/selling from/to arable farmers.

Ideal Person Attitude and Work ethic:

Excited to develop business by increasing sales.
Good communicator - face to face & telephone.
Self-motivated.

Salary package:

£ Salary is negotiable purely depending upon experience.
