The Job Role:
To find and develop new sales within Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece selling specialist fertilisers into the sports turf, horticultural, retail, and associated markets and to then manage and develop those customer accounts as well as to cultivate existing clientele.

Location: Home based with travel across Southern Europe

Salary Package: £42,000 basic salary with OTE of £60,000 + Company Car / Car Allowance + Bonus + 24 days holiday

Key Responsibilities:
To develop and manage specialist fertiliser distributor sales accounts within Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece.
To seek and engage with potential new specialist fertiliser and associated markets.
To convert prospects into live customers
Develop and present credible customer facing sales materials.
Learn and understand the business processes to ensure that customer demand is satisfied and enhanced.
Develop sufficient technical expertise to have high levels of credibility with the customer base.
The job holder will report to the Sales and Marketing Director
The role will be accomplished principally by attending customer sites, shows and seminars.
Travelling assigned territories to directly meet with potential and new clients.

Candidate Skills and Experience:
Ideally, well educated in a science-based subject, the candidate will have a strong understanding of soil related chemistry/biology, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with good IT skills. This will include the ability to engage with social media and modern technology, to actively and positively promote the business and its products.

Being bilingual in Spanish and/or Italian or Portuguese (in both spoken and written communications) is a highly preferred skill for this position in addition to be able to communicate effectively in English. A thorough understanding of the business norms of the countries including the ability to act with tact, politeness, and diplomatic restraint. The job holder will become the primary trusted contact for our customers.

The job holder will demonstrate a keen desire to be successful in the sales role and in providing valued and honest technical advice to clients. A key skill will include an ability to win attention from prospective customers, to be able to present a professional and trustworthy persona, and to understand how to solve prospective customers issues and get them on board and actively purchasing. The ability to develop productive key personal relationships through face-to-face meetings is essential.

Experience in a sales environment is essential, a background in the fertiliser or sports turf market would both be an advantage. However, a knowledge of agronomy is essential. Where necessary, education and training will be provided to enhance skills. The job holder needs to demonstrate technical proficiency and credibility within the sports turf industry. They also need to have the ability to build credible local contacts.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Most importantly, the job holder must have the right attitude and ethos to both be respected by the customer for honest integrity and technical expertise, as well as fit into a tightknit high performing sales team.

The job holder needs to develop and understanding the dynamics of the targeted markets including trade barriers -legal, financial, and non-financial. This will include supporting the registration of products in selected countries and support in dealing with local customs officials. It is possible that Spanish sales may act as a bridge to the South American market.

In addition, it is expected that the job holder will actively contribute to the development of online material for the Academy.

The Ideal Person:
A team player with good time management and self-motivation.
Based in either Spain or Portugal with proven experience in setting up and supporting customers within the EU.
Must be happy to travel across their sales region to develop or service overseas markets.
Must be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills in both written and verbal formats.
You will have a commercial desire that aligns with the company aims to quickly increase profitable sales, through the provision of high-quality products and superior customer service.
A current driving licence is essential.
