​Global Aquacultural Manager – Salmon Specialist - Abu Dhabi - £120k + 20% Bonus!!

My Client:
I am working with a fantastic global client who is one of the fastest growing global salmon companies.
They are operating multiple tonnes of vertically integrated aquaculture production and processing facilities using land-based Recirculating Aquaculture technology. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced Salmon specialist who would love to be based in Abu Dhabi.

This role will be reporting to: Global Head of Production.

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Role Description:
Responsibility for Production from Smolt to Harvest, including;
You will be part of a small highly experienced central team, based in Abu Dhabi leading, managing, training, and overseeing the roll out and operation of the Salmon facilities and the development of its workforce around the world.
The role will require extensive travel and attracts an appropriate leading salary and support package in what is a rapidly developing business based in a tax-free working environment.
The role will evolve through two phases. See below....
The first phase will be geared to infrastructure and capacity building and the second to leading and managing the global on-growing operations for the Salmon business.

First phase (Years 1-3 of the role)
Farm development
Designing farm systems, including taking the lead on fish handling, feeding, feed monitoring, sample weighing, purging, and harvesting operations, and contributing to the development of the RAS systems at all stages.

Managing farm development teams, including coordinating the work of external consultants, experts and equipment suppliers and contributing to farm development meetings.

Advising and supporting the farms construction teams to ensure that the building structures incorporate the farm systems under development and equipment selected.

Taking a lead role in establishing digital monitoring and control systems for the central operations room in Abu Dhabi. This will include the establishment of a ‘farm data and performance information feed’ to Abu Dhabi, including video feeds and supporting the integration of farm sensor systems, data streams and ‘AI’ within business optimisation processes.

Developing company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for on-growing, drafted according to company format and protocols, and supporting the development of company frameworks for ‘occupational competence’ and job -remits based on SOPs.

Reviewing, recommending, and incorporating best practice protocols, including relevant external quality standards for fish production/marketing, and/or necessary regulatory compliance in each country.

Supporting the development of training packages for the Company Academy, for ‘smolt to harvest’ and associated management operations, including the provision of technical on-growing information and the review of PSA proposals and resources to ensure PSA courses reflect company standards for on-growing.

Second phase (Year 2 of the role onwards)
Staff selection, leadership, and management
Supporting the recruitment of managerial and operational staff, including, the selection interview and induction process.

Performance managing senior on growing managers, supported by ‘one to one’ review meetings together with the function business unit.

Leading and developing the team of senior on-growing managers by promoting an open, collegiate problem-solving approach, with knowledge exchange and the achievement of company’s global ambitions at the centre.

Staff development
Leading and developing a team of trainers/assessor for on-growing, including regular standards review meetings and through the ‘training of trainers’, when appropriate.

Oversee delivery of trainers and assessors, ensuring their training and assessment delivery consistently promotes company SOPs across all farms, from the start-up of farming activities, onwards.

Contributing directly to the development and delivery of on growing staff development programmes, where appropriate.
