The Company:

Our client is an established Nursery, who grow high quality plants. They now are seeking to recruit a Grower Manager.

 

The Industry: Horticulture, Nursery, Garden Centre, Plants, Bedding Plants, Herbaceous Plants, Agricultural, Agricultural, Growing, Grower, Grower Manager, PA1, PA6.

 

The Job Role Details:

As a Grower Manager, you will be overseeing the Nursery, but still very much hands-on. Knowledgeable and skilful within Horticulture, competent in Growing Bedding and Herbaceous Plants. Able to be responsible for leading and direct a team, working to the business needs and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure all bedding and herbaceous plants are grown and maintained to required quantities and deadlines, maximising efficiencies whilst managing high quality.

  • Plan for and call-in all production material as required and in liaison with the companies purchasing team.

  • Control the quality of incoming goods.

  • Provide for and deliver all irrigation and crop husbandry requirements.

  • Ensure crop protection and weed control requirements are met.

  • Manage your team, delegation, training, and developments and highlighting any issues.

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping, accurate inventory and records as required.

  • Assist in the efficiency movement of stock between sties.

  • Follow company procedures and policies ensuring legislative compliance.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:

Ideal:

  • Dextrous with an aptitude toward nursery work.

  • Previous experience within a similar role.

  • Strong Horticultural knowledge – supporting Education/ Qualifications.

  • PA1 and PA6 certifications.

  • Growing experience.

  • Experience of working with bedding and herbaceous plants.

  • Able to manage a team, lead, direct and work as part of the team.

  • Enthusiastic, practical with an eye for details.

  • Hands-on.

  • Flexible with good problem-solving abilities.

  • Good communication skills.

 

Salary package:

£ 25,000 - £ 28,000 p.a. – Experience Dependant
