The Company:

A working farm, who grow and harvest Fresh Produce, including fruit and vegetables. Due to consistent growth and expansion, they are seeking to recruit a new Head Farm Grower – Fresh Produce.

The Job Role Details:

A hands-on role, whereby you will be expected to take on a variety of responsibilities around the farm, including scheduling ploughing, planting, and harvesting and testing soil for nutrient levels. In addition to actual crop duties, you will also be responsible for scheduling maintenance of farm equipment and managing temporary staff at harvest and planting times. Experience with irrigation and fertilization is necessary. A great and exciting opportunity to join a family run business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the owner making planting and harvesting decisions and planning PYO events to ensure a good supply.

  • Planting, cultivation, prep, polytunnel, irrigation and water pipes management.

  • Overseeing agency staff to accomplish tasks in the most timely and efficient way.

  • Keeping all farm records to include any animal movement, medicine records, production.

  • Managing the farm budget.

  • Operating and maintaining farm equipment.

  • Inspecting farm facilities for safety due to high public footfall.

  • Friendly and professional conduct that positively reflects the company.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce farm experience, preferably in a leadership role.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

  • Full clean driving licence.

  • Physical capability and stamina.

  • Knowledge of crop market trends.

  • Ability to keep accurate records.

  • Knowledge of basic machinery maintenance.

  • Experience in operating tractors and tele-handers.

  • A good insight with the public – everything will offer PYO.

  • A great team player.

 

Experience in the following would be advantageous but is not essential:

  • Fencing.

  • Welding.

  • Animal husbandry.

  • Formal agricultural or horticultural training.

  • Certified training in tele-handler, pesticide spraying, welding, and chainsaw.

 

Salary package:

£ 22,000 p.a. - £28,000 p.a.
