The Company:
A family-owned successful dairy farm is recruiting for a Herdsperson for a medium sized housed herd.
The Job Role:
Your role as the Herdsperson will be focused on the milking and feeding of the housed herd. Be confident to manage the daily jobs after milking and able to support where necessary on the farm.

Salary Package:
£30,000 - £45,000 Depending on experience
+ Accommodation to suit a family
Key Responsibilities:
The Herdsperson will be responsible for the day-to-day milking of twice a day milking on a rota as part of a team
They will report to the Owner and liaise over any issues concerning the herd
Support on the management of the herd: milking, calving, young stock, feeding, health monitoring
TMR feeding and operate feeder wagon
Maintain high levels of animal welfare
Monitor herd health
Maintain accurate records
To work effectively within agreed stakeholders' objectives
Candidate Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as a Herdsperson of medium to large-scale dairy herd/livestock management and milking
Experience of working in a team and being flexible
Knowledge of TMR, able to mix up rations and drive feeder wagon
AI or foot trimming experience, but this is not essential
Calving and calf rearing
Dairy tractor operations/ telehandler ticket but this is not essential
Health & Safety adherence
Sound herd record keeping
IT skills: use of herd management software
Excellent observation skills of livestock
Desirable:
At least 4 years' experience in high output dairy
AI Certification
Foot Trimming Certification
Personal Attributes:
A good communicator
Attention to detail
Team player
Other:
Ability to work flexible hours when required
Hold a UK Driving Licence
Able to provide excellent references on request
