Junior Manager - Plant Nursery

About Us:
A wholesale nursery supplying Garden Centres large and small over the whole of the UK.

The Job:
An exciting position is available for a Junior Manager to join a busy and highly reputable plant nursery.

Job Responsibilities:
Working across all departments to understand how the business works on a day-to-day basis.
You will work closely with the Production Manager and Managing Director day to day to learn about each area of the business including sales.
Practical skills and being hands on when required.
Knowledge of ornamental plant production an advantage, but not essential.
Understanding of a seasonal business.
Experience in a management or supervisory role with a focus on up skilling and developing team members.
Recognising the importance of maintaining plant quality and uniformity.
Communicate effectively with Production Manager and Managing Director to ensure timescales of the above are met.
Discuss and implement any perceived efficiencies that can be made in all departments.
Be an effective team builder and leading by example.
Supporting the Production Manager in organising and prioritising daily and weekly tasks.
Be efficient and thorough with accurate record keeping.
Ability to prepare, present and understand budgets.
Ensure Health and Safety requirements are up to date and understood by staff.
A sound working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel would be a big advantage.
Any certificates such as forklift use PA1 and PA6 spraying will be a big advantage. If some areas lacking will be offered training to meet the requirements.
Have the foresight to look at new good varieties and keep ahead of industry trends.

Salary:
Up to £27,000 depending on experience
