Vegetable Packhouse Manager - The Job Role Details:
As the Packhouse Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a busy vegetable packhouse. You will lead a team of approximately 30 staff, ensuring produce is packed to retailer specifications and dispatched efficiently and safely.

Vegetable Packhouse Manager - Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the packing and dispatch of fresh produce to major retailers
* Lead, train, and manage a diverse team of around 30 staff across multiple shifts
* Ensure quality standards, food safety, and customer specifications are consistently met
* Coordinate with harvest and logistics teams to align packing schedules with deliveries
* Monitor and manage stock of packaging materials and consumables
* Uphold all health & safety and food hygiene regulations (including BRC, Red Tractor, and HACCP)
* Drive continuous improvement across productivity, efficiency, and product quality
* Maintain accurate records and ensure traceability and compliance documentation is complete
* Foster a positive, productive, and safety-conscious working environment
* Report regularly to senior management on packhouse performance

Vegetable Packhouse Manager - Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have/be:
* Previous experience managing or supervising in a fresh produce or food packing environment
* Familiarity with brassica crops or similar perishable produce
* Proven leadership and team management capabilities
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Experience working with major UK retailers and understanding of their specifications
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
* Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on quality and compliance
* IT literacy for record-keeping, production planning, and communication
* A good understanding of food safety and health & safety compliance
