Technical Manager
Location: North West
The Company: Our client is one of the UK's leading Horticultural businesses. They are growers and wholesalers of bedding and ornamental plants.
The Industry: Horticulture, Fresh Produce, Technical, QA, Management
Purpose of the Job: Raise standards of quality assurance across the Company, reviewing and advancing processes whilst driving Company improvements with the use of data analysis. Focusing on product quality at all times.
Role Responsibilities:
Oversee BI (Business improvement) data recording and reporting across areas of production and operations.
Manage a team and allocate QA personnel to specific areas within the processes.
Set up and maintain the Business QA Plan, map and oversee all processes to include inward goods and final product despatch.
Oversee all product specifications required throughout the business, setting standards and monitoring their attainment.
Manage label proofing processes and barcode system management.
Manage the conformity of materials used within the processes and ensure standards are adhered to.
Oversee audits, external and internal inspections, and their reporting, ensuring compliancy.
Ensure product traceability throughout production processes.
Oversee Team training and performance ensuring and documenting sessions and purpose of.
Manage Team wellbeing and absenteeism.
Manage legal requirements with regards chemical usage and required documentation and record keeping.
Manage the collation and circulation of procedures, reports, and manuals.
Work closely with Account Managers to satisfy QC requirements, specifications and resolve any discrepancies.
Reporting QC data to senior management.
Input wastage figures to Company system.
Reporting QC issues to Operations team and Finance team for credit/refunds.
Work closely with all Managers regarding specific team training.
Take an active approach to remain up to date with changing industry laws and compliances.
Keep abreast of technology and developments within the industry in order to improve quality and efficiencies on the nursery.
Develop a good working relationship with colleagues and customers.
Involvement in the design, implementation, and management of Company ERP system.
Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:
Experience within a Technical or QA Manager role within Commercial Horticulture or Fresh Produce.
Ability to build strong relationships.
Clean driving license.
Familiar with working with retailers.
3 years min management experience.
Computer literate.
Highly organised.
Excellent attention to detail.
