Salary and Benefits Package:
Competitive Salary - £30,000-£35,000 (pro-rata for part-time)
Flexible hours and scope for additional auditing responsibilities
Additional Information:
This is a fully onsite role and does not offer remote working.
Flexible for full-time or part-time contracts - minimum 20 hours per week, up to 37 hours.
About the Farm:
A well-established and rapidly growing mixed farm with both arable and livestock enterprises. The business produces a range of crops, including potatoes and cereals, as well as livestock. The farm employs a team of permanent and seasonal staff and has experienced significant growth over the past year. Following the development of new farm offices, the business is now seeking a skilled Farm Administrator / Secretary to support its financial and administrative operations.
Farm Administrator / Secretary - The Job Role Details:
As Farm Administrator / Secretary, you will play a key role in managing the farm's accounts and administrative processes. You will be responsible for bookkeeping, VAT returns, and general office support, ensuring compliance and smooth financial operations. The role will involve close liaison with the farm owners and accountants, providing accurate financial reporting and maintaining well-organised records.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate farm bookkeeping using Xero.
* Prepare and manage VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC rules.
* Provide general administrative support to the farm office.
* Assist with auditing and financial reporting as required.
* Liaise with external accountants on tax matters and financial issues.
* Ensure all records are accurate, up-to-date, and well-organised.
* Support business operations with attention to detail and effective communication.
Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have/be:
* Proven experience using Xero accounting software.
* Strong understanding of VAT rules and farm accounting principles.
* Bookkeeping experience (ideally in a practice environment).
* AAT Level 4 or equivalent accountancy qualification preferred.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience working in or with agricultural businesses.
* Flexible and adaptable, able to manage priorities in a busy farm office.
* Enthusiastic about supporting a progressive and growing rural enterprise.
