Lecturer in Engineering/Land Based Service Engineering

Vacancy ID: 55860 DM

*This role is not eligible for UK Visa Sponsorship - the successful applicant will need to have a pre-existing Right to Work in the UK in order to be offered an employment contract.*

Are you an experienced farm or service engineer passionate about mentoring apprentices and turning real-world knowledge into future-ready skills?

Ready to shape the next generation of farm and land-based engineers?

Are you passionate about teaching farm systems, machinery, and land-based technology?

Do you thrive when real-world farm knowledge meets the classroom?

The Company

A specialist land‑based education provider in the East of England. It has a long history dating back to 1893 and is recognised for its practical, hands‑on learning and industry‑relevant courses in agriculture, horticulture, animal and equine studies, and related land‑based subject courses, for learners aged 16 to 18, adult learners, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Role

Are you an experienced agricultural or service engineer ready to share your skills and inspire the next generation? Work with modern farm machinery, deliver hands-on projects, and support apprentices as they develop real-world engineering expertise. No formal teaching qualification? No problem - training opportunities are available. Make a real difference while keeping your technical skills sharp and shaping the future of agricultural engineering.

Play a vital role in shaping the future workforce of agricultural engineering.

Make a real difference by sharing your expertise and inspiring young adults.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Land-Based Service Engineer / Technician (Agricultural Service Engineer/Technician) to join their engineering team, delivering the CNH Level 2 and Level 3 Land-Based Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Programme.

In this role, you will work alongside three highly experienced, time-served engineering lecturers, who together bring over 150 years of industry experience. The team is passionate about delivering outstanding teaching and inspiring the next generation of agricultural technicians.

Location: East of England
Salary: £35,000 basic (dependent on skills and experience)

What You'll Do:

  • Support live student projects, including tractor and machinery servicing, repairs, and overhauls

  • Help create teaching aids, such as wiring boards, cut-away gearboxes, engines, and other practical learning models

  • Keep machinery, tools, and resources ready and maintained for every session

  • Assist with workshop operations, including tool control, equipment maintenance, stock management, cleanliness, and H&S compliance

  • Transport apprentices (minibus driving) and attend CNH technical training alongside them

  • Develop and deliver teaching content in areas you feel confident in

  • Engage in your own technical, educational, and professional development, including opportunities to gain teacher training qualifications

Who We're Looking For:
You'll have a strong interest and background in agricultural and/or service engineering, including experience with agricultural machinery, vehicles, plant machinery, horticultural machinery, or welding/fabrication. You'll hold GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) and a vocational qualification at NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.

A teaching qualification is not required to start, making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking to transition into teaching or progress their career in agriculture or engineering. If you already hold or are willing to work towards a teaching qualification within a year, that's a bonus!

If you love working with modern agricultural machinery, problem-solving in practical settings, and supporting apprentices to grow, this is your chance to combine your technical skills with teaching and mentorship.
