NIAB is a leading UK centre for plant science and agronomy with headquarters in Cambridge and a regional network. One vital element of our operation is the successful delivery of field trials on a diverse range of agricultural, horticultural and novel crops. Our Cambridge centre is currently seeking 2 positions:
EXPERIENCED SPRAY OPERATOR/TRACTOR DRIVER (Ref: SV/A1060)
You will be a competent & experienced sprayer operator with tractor driving skills allowing you to operate a wide range of agricultural equipment. PA1, 2, 4S&4G certificates are essential.
SKILLED TRACTOR DRIVER/ARABLE OPERATOR (Ref: SV/A1131)
This position will major on providing the tractor driving requirements to deliver trials and commercial operations with occasional spraying cover. PA1, 2, 4S&4G certificates are desirable.
Both positions will operate and maintain a range of specialist trials equipment including drills and combines as well as commercial equipment. The Centre runs Haldrup trials equipment, John Deere tractors and an Agrifac sprayer. You must have a full driving licence. Tractor driving skills are essential. Category C and Forklift licences are desirable along with a working knowledge of Trimble GPS systems, although training will be given if these are not held. You will be required to keep meticulous records of your work.
These roles will suit someone who enjoys a varied working day. There is a requirement to work unsociable hours at peak times and travel to off-site locations with occasional over-night stays. We require dedicated and flexible team players who have a methodical approach and attention to detail. Manual handling operations require physical fitness and adherence to health and safety standards. Starting salary for a 37 hour week is in the range of £18,500 to £20,591 pa dependent on skills, experience and qualifications. Overtime is paid.
